Friday at the Mic - Everybody's Watching the Wrong Race
By Jeff Bingham, President

You can't turn on the TV right now without someone telling you this election decides everything, your money included.
So you start wondering. Do I pull back until it's over? What if I guess wrong?
The election isn't the thing to watch.
Markets have gone up under Republicans and under Democrats. Anybody who tells you different has picked the years that prove their point. What markets want is to know the rules. When nobody can change them much, things settle down.
So what is the race to watch? Inflation and rates. When the Fed raised rates in September, the market barely blinked, because the bond market had already done it. That's what sets your mortgage and your car loan.
Then there's what nobody sees coming. A war, an oil spike, a bad night overseas. No candidate controls those.
So what do you do? Most of the time, nothing in a hurry. Look at what you own. Do you have the cash you'll need in the next couple of years? Would your plan hold up in a bad year?
Part of your money should be protected when markets fall, and the rest should keep working for you.
Skip and I talk through all of it in this episode. Give it a listen, and if you want to see how your plan holds up, come sit down with us.
