I want to know Christ – yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings becoming like him in his death. – Philippians 3:10
I believe it is incumbent on mankind to reflect on the significance of this event. Not the way we often see with a low-resolution lens, but rather with a high-resolution lens. To see that God’s son, the perfect sinless man, God walking among men, experienced betrayal of his closest friends/family and the lies of the Pharisees. He endured the prosecution not just of Pontius Pilate, but his followers who chose to let Barabbas, a common criminal, go free when Pilate asked them who do you choose to save. He then suffered the cruelest torture and humiliation before ultimately dying on the cross he had to carry up the hill to his death. He did this for his followers to pay our debts.
The magnitude of Passover week, Palm Sunday, the Crucifixion and Resurrection truly overwhelm me with gratitude and joy. To know how our story ends, by giving the privilege to experience all of life to the fullest and show our family, friends, and community what a Christ centered life looks like, to live each and every day until we die our earthly death. The last words Jesus spoke were “It is finished.” My promise to God, my family, my friends, my community is to “Finish Well.”
