Thursday at the Table: October 29, 2026

By Jeff Bingham, President

Thursday at the Table hero. Quote from Jeff Bingham: "Your peace was never in Washington's hands."

Whoever you vote for Tuesday, there's a good chance you'll stop for gas on the way. The number on that pump is what this election is really about.

Gas. Groceries. The war with Iran. People are tired of paying more for everything, and most of it comes back to oil. Washington says the oil shock will pass, and they may be right. But that's easy to say when you're not the one filling the tank.

On Wednesday the Fed held rates steady. 2 members wanted to raise them, and the chairman said inflation is still too high. The 10-year Treasury stayed above 5%. Whatever happens Tuesday, rates are leaning higher than we got used to.

Here's what I want you to hold onto. Since 1938, the stock market has been higher 12 months after every midterm election. Every one. Different parties, different wars, different headlines, same result.

And don't trust the first reaction. On election night 2016, Dow futures dropped more than 800 points. By the close the next day, the Dow was up.

So don't make a move with your money this week because the TV is yelling. Your plan was built for whatever this week brings, to protect you if the market drops and keep you in it if the market runs.

Psalm 146:3 says, "Put not your trust in princes." Your peace was never in Washington's hands.

Vote. Then go live your life. Your plan stays put.

Keep the Faith. God Bless America.
